GLC Advisors Restructuring?
Interested in more info on GLC, specifically their restructuring group in NY. Seem to be pretty high on the RX League tables and basically all their analysts come from targets (UChicago, Penn) yet can't find too much info on them. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have nothing positive to say about that place. Culture is weird. They claim they’re a lifestyle shop but it’s a lie. It’s just their own excuse for keep trying but not being able to chase down more big deals. Pay is below competitors. Don’t go if you have other options in RX.
Totally disagree. Unfair to compare deal flow from a mini boutique like GLC to a firm like HL/Laz/Evr with literally dozens of MDs in Rx. Although they do less deals overall, they are strong players in the Rx space and have advised on tons of mid and large cap restructurings (consistent top 10 in Rx league tables). Very small analyst classes (about five per year) but usually place well to HF / PE exits with a stronger focus on credit/distressed firms (Oaktree, Brigade, Goldentree, Apollo Credit). At least at the junior level comp is above the street and comparable to the more well known restructuring firms. If looking for prestige or more name recognition outside of the rx/distressed community, would understand if someone choose a firm like HL or Lazard over GLC, but if interested in developing restructuring skills I'm sure GLC would provide a comparable experience.
Rx league tables are inaccurate because of the lack of data first off. Decent shop, would place them in T3 Rx shop.
Any idea about their work hours / culture? Is it a sweat shop or more relaxed hours? Ive heard consistant 9AM-10PM hours. Not sure about weekends
Was trying to find exits but couldn’t seem to find these; are they just hidden?
Base or bonus? I know their base is at market pay.
Market pay for base but from what I've heard can often be well above for strong performers. Given small class sizes individual performance matters even more and is very easily noticed so standout performers can earn well above market where people not pulling their weight can't coast by and get a normal bonus as one would at a larger firm. In general though bonus above market as with most Rx shops.
Any more thoughts on their junior exits?
Do they take summer analysts?
How would GLC compare to shops like Ducera, Greenhill RX, Roths RX, Gugg RX, CVP RX?
Definetly below all the shops you listed, closest to Roths.
agree - tier 3/4 shop these days
One of my junior guys went there a few years ago. Weirdest guy you'll ever meet in your life. I think he's doing well.
are they doing a FT process this year?
yes
didnt it already wrap up?
the culture sucks, honestly nothing positive about this place

Deal flow is okay
Bureaucracy
Embarrassing business manager
If you want to exit well you have to do it yourself because they are not at all supportive to that
