Goldman SA internal mobility? UK

Accepted a Goldman offer but for PWM in London office. Is it possible to recruit internally for AM/IBD graduate/off-cycle roles after the SA given that I might not want to pursue WM? Have anyone intern done this before in the UK? Heard they're pretty big in internal mobility.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, internal mobility within Goldman Sachs is indeed possible, but it can be a bit tricky. It seems you're currently a Summer Analyst in Private Wealth Management (PWM) and are interested in moving to Asset Management (AM) or Investment Banking Division (IBD).

From what I've gathered, it's not uncommon for individuals to make such a move, but it does require some strategic networking and clear communication with your manager. It's important to express your interests and career goals, but also to show your commitment to your current role.

In terms of the politics surrounding this kind of move, it's crucial to approach the conversation with your manager tactfully. You wouldn't want to jeopardize your current offer status. It's recommended to have these conversations after you've proven your value in your current role.

Also, it's worth noting that while internal mobility is encouraged, the transition from PWM to IBD or AM might be challenging due to the different skill sets required for these roles.

Remember, every journey is unique and what worked for one person might not work for another. So, take the advice with a grain of salt and make sure to do your own due diligence. Good luck with your career moves, mate!
