Good bosses in Finance?

Is there such thing as a good or nice boss in finance? Or are they usually just dicks? Curious to hear how political and back stabbing all the time it can be, like in some banks. Ive had bosses tell me before that they have my back but I’m not so sure. I havent experienced a dick boss yet but hoping I don’t.

I have had good luck in the trading arms of oil majors and commodities merchants.  There are a lot fewer people from prestigious backgrounds (mostly state school grads and expats who worked engineering or corporate jobs before finance) which I believe is directly correlated to fewer egotistical maniacs who want you to know that they are where they are in an org chart.
