Just heard that a couple of my friends have been made redundant from their investment banking associate positions this week. One guy I know got canned a couple of weeks back. All were at different banks (a level below GS).
The redundancies seem to be a mix of newly hired MBA's and existing Associates. Haven't heard any Analysts getting the dreaded "invite to the meeting room with HR", but who knows?
Shit - and there was me looking to break into banking! Guess biz-dev may be a better option now.
