Got an Offer Yesterday, and then Shit Happend
Just got an full time offer yesterday from a BB, I was really happy.
But then what happened completely ruined my life.
I was doing my midterm and I was carrying a 2 sided crib sheet. However in the exam I was told that the crib sheet can only by single sided and therefore I am conducting an academic offense here. Fantastic.
Now I don't know if this **** is going to leave a permanent record on my transcript and the HR will bother me with this when they do the background check.
What should I do now?
Calm down, it has not completely ruined your life. Is there someone you can speak to about this? Was this an honest mistake? Seems a touch overboard. Why didn't they tell you before you took the test?
dispute this to no end. If they can not show you specific documentation stating one sided, then they can not penalize you. Usually, it requires to much effort for the teacher to argue this, especially w/o proof. Talk to the dean of students ASAP. You don't want to let this rest, it will show some guilt.
yeah dude. go to the Dean. give him a blow blow
All of the above. If it goes on your record, just talk to HR about it when you start. There's a period of time during orientation where they give you a chance to come clean before they do a thorough background check on you: that's the time you talk to them. I've seen people get out of unbelieveable offenses (drugs, car accidents, dismissal, etc) by being honest at that time, but if they catch you trying to hide something....THAT's what pisses them off.
But fight that, it's bullshit. Talk to the dean and explain it was an honest mistake that could affect your employment. If you go in with a humble, honest, good attitude, they are usually very reasonable.
Your employer probably won't even find out about this.
unless you get kicked out of school over this your employer will not find out
