Got HR Call Before Starting Internship - Reason to Worry or Not?
Hey folks! Quick question for you all - got and accepted an investment banking internship offer at a BB for the summer, and everything’s going pretty smoothly. Then, last Friday, I got a call from HR about pre-employment stuff. I wasn’t able to pick up the call or call them back during business hours, so I’ll definitely do so on Monday.
But until then, I’m a little worried about that call from HR - it’s possible that it was about something completely innocent, like a piece of paperwork that I forgot to fill out, but I’m concerned that something went wrong with my background check. I have a clean history, etc., but you never know with these things. Anyone have experience with this kind of situation and can shed some light on this? Thanks so much!
These things happen pretty regularly - I wouldn't worry if you've got a clean background. Often the case that they couldn't get a previous employer to confirm your employment (some firms have a non-disclosure policy for contractors / interns) and so need you to self affirm: just means another piece of paperwork to complete.
There's probably a form related to onboarding that you still have to fill out and they're chasing you on it. Doubt it relates to the background check or anything bad, I wouldn't worry.
It's very common
