Graduating without FT - not stressed but also not sure what the best move is

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good week.

I’m a final year at a target uni (U.K.) with decent academics and a SA at a MF. Didn’t convert due to headcount freeze and didn’t really recruit anywhere else as my team told me I had it in the bag.

Been trying to land off-cycles but can’t seem to get any interviews.

Looks like I’ll be graduating on the dole boys… I have a business I run on the side which makes ~£40k per year net but requires my time so will be okay for a year. Ideally want to recruit for IBD or MF analyst but how will it look with a year gap on my CV?

What approach should I take to maximise the year ahead?

Cheers!
