GS MBD (PIA) Interview - London
Hi Monkeys! I am invited for a telephone interview at GS MBD (PIA) for London as SA. I did use the search tool bar but little information have been published regarding interview questions and interview experiences.
To all former applicants - what can I expect from this besides standard M&a stuff: Accouting, Equity bridge,...
Any case studies, brain teasers, math questions (e.g. 15x45), distressed stuff, operating models, Paper LBO, LBO charactersitics, etc.?
I would appreciated any input! Bye your Greenspan monkey!
bump!
Not sure if you've already seen this thread, it may help a bit https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/goldman-sachs-principal-investme…
Thanks for link, but I already read it before starting this thread. Information is a little bit vague, and now also outdated.
London GS PIA exit ops (Originally Posted: 02/05/2010)
Hi all,
Could some one maybe point out the exit opps for London GS PIA? Is it good for placement into mega funds after 1 or 2 years.
Also, what are the hours like in this group, i assume it is better than IBD analyst. Home by 10pm? 1 day weekend?
Anyone know the conversion rate for SA for full time? think they only take 2-3 interns.
Doesn't GS in London do a rotational SA programme? PIA is a great group. After a couple of years, you can easily move to a mega fund.
PIA in london recruit seperately from IBD in London.
Anyone know the working culture etc in PIA london?
bump~
anyone?
good question, but what are you really thinking
thinking exit opps....and team culture etc....
.
Search LinkedIn for Goldman PIA and see what people did after.
GS offers rotational summer placements for interns who ask for it
Rotational between IBD teams right? or between MBD and IBD?
Places well into mega funds as you will work a lot on co-investments with these guys, which will give you direct contact and a chance to build relationships. I cannot compare this to straight IBD but definitely, opportunities are there.
Work will be less than IBD but still signficant. People I know did work until midnight/early AM during the week and then a bit here and there during the weekend. Still not an easy lifestyle but very good learning ground. If you get an offer, by all means accept.
Thanks for the comment. I have both a IBD and PIA summer analyst offer for London office, I will take the PIA offer.
But just wondering whats your opinions for starting full time, is it good to start in PIA or maybe get one or two years experience in IBD then switch?
I am not sure if PE is what I want to do in the future, but I hope to get into a good B school after working for 2/3 years. Which out of GS IBD/PIA would be more helpful for that. Seems like analyst within other BB dont even know what is GS PIA.
Grats on both offers. Take PIA and don't look back.
exactly how does GS PIA seen by an outsider from GS (e.g. IBD analyst from Citi, MS, JPM). I recently spoke to a Citi IBD analyst who have never heard of GS PIA and says I should take GS IBD...
Also for B school application purpose, I assume the admission officier are more familiar with GS IBD than PIA...

Our shop looks at GS PIA very favorably. The people I've spoken with found PIA to be a great experience. Congrats and best of luck
