Lets say you attend a semi-target. Maybe two top BBs recruit there with limited spots for FO IB analyst roles. You dont make the cut for watever reason. Can you network or cold-call your way in? Like skip the OCR and impress an MD to get an interview. Has anyone done this? Have you known someone at GS and he just happens to vouch for you because you seem determined? Experiences? Thanks

It is definitely possible, but the question is: Will the MD do so? Probably not.

For sure...and it doesn't have to just be an MD
I'd say this is the most common way to go about getting interviews. They won't vouch for you if your stats aren't up to the standards though.
