Hear me out - PE exit opps?

Hi,Currently working for a big 4 M&A team in London.

In several PE processes, but not sure it's for me long term (in 5/6 years I would value having a better WLB etc). Thinking about the FD path beyond that. For clarity, the reason I'm choosing not to go down this route now is that it would close doors on more commercial/investing roles. However, what about the other way round?

I'm considering the finance director route as a potential option beyond PE. Do we think this is realistic post-PE? I am a chartered accountant, so I guess that would help. But how realistic would Big 4 M&A > a few years of PE investing > no 1/2 in a small/mid market finance team be?

Also incentivised by the fact the only people I see getting rich from M&A deals are the CFOs / MDs in small/mid market companies we do deals for!
