Help! Need to analyze a Harvard Merger and Acquisition case study
Hi guys,
For the initial part of a recruiting process for an I-Bank, I have been asked to analyze a Harvard Merger and Acquisition case study. I am fresh out of college and new to these types of case studies. Can anyone help out with a general guideline to analyzing these types of cases.
Cheers!
If there are financials you should probably do a merger model to lay out dilution/accretion and make assumptions behind stock/cash if they aren't given.
Otherwise I think the rest of the writeup should discuss Porter's 5 forces and relate that back to whether the deal makes sense for the acquirer. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can add more.
Tough to say without more explicit directions. Maybe a good idea to download a very simple merger model template as a backdrop for the analysis. As noted above, I'd also think about providing some industry commentary (i.e. is this an attractive industry, if so why) as well as make sure to understand and opine on why the deal make sense or why it does not make sense.
