Help Needed - Transferring Teams as an Intern

Hello, really need some advice from you all.

I'm currently working as an intern on a 12 month contract at an American bank based in London. My issue is that I hate the team that I'm on. My boss is aggresive, pushy and argumentative and despite the fact that I've worked so hard to land this role and want to stick it out, I can safely say that I hate working under him, and as a result, I don’t seem to be enjoying the job although the work genuinely interests me. His attitude and behaviour is unique to my desk, and the other teams within ECM seem to have a much better culture, and an environment that I would feel more comfortable working in.

Very recently however, another intern has left one of these desks. The manager is actively looking to bring in another intern ASAP (again on a 12 month contract) and he seems like an awesome manager that really cares about mentoring and developing the interns that work under him.

My question is whether you guys and girls think I should ask and see if I can look to transfer over to the other desk? The deals they work on also interests me more, so moving over wouldn’t just be down to the fact that I don’t like working under my current boss (although it plays a very, very large part). I'm confident that if I were to have an interview with the hiring manager, I would be successful, but I'm concerned that it may look bad if I look to move so early into my internship (I’ve been here 2 months now) and the awkwardness this would cause when bumping into my previous manager on a day-to-day basis. I haven't approached the hiring manager yet as I want to hear your views first, and I haven’t spoken to HR as I'm afraid they’ll pass this information onto my current boss who’ll most likely go berserk if he finds out.

I need to make a decision ASAP, so would really appreciate any input that you can provide!
