HELP!!!!! St. John's University BS Business 3.4 GPA Military Vet!

I have a good Marine buddy of mine who like me, was behind the learning curve on how the wall street analyst culture works. He is looking to land an analyst position in IB, Research, he will even consider FO.

He graduated this year 2016. Is there anything he can do to make himself more competitive?

I suggested doing the following.

Wall Street Prep - Or any tool to help give you a basic understanding of financial modeling, how financial accounting is used, helps slightly with excel and helps you get familiar with different valuation methods.

Post-Baccalaureate Studies - Either Colombia or NYU (he would go for free due to the VA helping out) Just to take a few courses and strengthen his knowledge, maybe if he shows the employer that he took the initiative after he learned how far behind the learning curve he was, it MIGHT help

Identifying all MM and BB Firms - I told him to find out and prioritize based on strengths. Walt I mean by that is this (Alumni Presence, Military Veteran Presence, etc.)

NETWORK!!!!!!! - once you have completed the "IDENTIFY" stage above.

Once you apply - Research questions that might be asked in the interview, culture, etc. or anything that gives you color on the firm and helps your chances.

Invest in numerical reasoning study guide to help his chances if he makes it past the application stage and is required to take any of those exams.

STUDY EARLY! - I handed him FINRA exam guides so if he is hired his chances of passing all exams the first time will be better.

IS THERE ANY ADVICE ANY OF YOU MIGHT HAVE THAT I DID NOT COVER. OR MAYBE ANY ADVICE YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE BACK? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANK YOU!
