Hirevues

Are these actually watched? How many are watched because surely not all. Does that mean there is a screening of CVs before to see which are watched or not?

Feel like I am going crazy here. Only ever passed one HV and I want to know if I just suck at these or is my CV not getting traction/any other reason.

Would appreciate any insights.

Yes, they most definitely are.

The issue, from what I can tell, is what happens before they're watched and who is doing the watching.

Some banks use the quality of the CV as a sorting mechanism to determine which applicant's Hirevue gets watched.

Some banks use the HireVue platform's scoring system (they say it doesn't exist but that's a load of crap) to rank candidates, then they bin the worst tiers automatically, and the top scorers get their videos watched.

For some banks, it's recruiters doing the watching - which means they can watch more but also means that "worse" entries in terms of presentation (that may otherwise have spectacular content) get binned. Other banks have the bankers watch them - but that means they can't watch that many and only focus on the top bucket. Some banks combine both methods.

TL,DR: It depends.

thanks.

so, if I understand this properly, there is a chance I do very good on a HV but not get through because of CV or scoring systems. I am struggling to understand because I genuinely do not think my HVs are flat out bad as I have practiced a lot with people and just talking into the camera as well

More or less. Maybe it's an ATS thing, or an issue with your performance on the OAs.

It could also be the Hirevue performance, actually. You're not being benchmarked against yourself, you're being compared to other applicants. If you didn't apply early (the bar is somewhat lower for early applicants), you have to be the cream of the crop to be considered. Sometimes, that isn't even enough.
