Holiday break made me realize I hate banking

I had a light week last week and this week had been busy and the break made me realize how much I hate banking. I’m 6 months into the job but honestly not sure if I’ll finish 2 years. I wanted to do IB -> PE -> HF but now I want to do something entrepreneurial. Did anyone go through something similar?

that's understandable. keep in mind you may get staffed on more interesting things going forward and more importantly, 6 more months on the job isn't that much in the grand scheme of things and having at least 1 year of experience will be a lot more respectable to future employers (or investors if your an entrepreneur) than 6 months.

Yep. I actually ended up quitting to pursue something entrepreneurial. Been enjoying unemployment a little more than working on the idea but glad to be taking a breather, for now, either way.

If you're not sure about quitting to try something of your own just yet, there's a headhunting firm out there that focuses on placing bankers and consultants in near startup roles. The firm is called Opus Search.

You can almost always come back to banking, barring some embarrassing exit that you'd have to be the cause of or a shitshow economic downturn like in 2008.
