Honest Advice: DCM/LevFin Hours in London
Hi
I'm going to be interning this summer in London in either DCM/LevFin for a non-BB. I was just wondering if I could get an honest opinion from someone in the business on the hours of work. I live just outside of the city so could commute which would save me a ton of money which I could really do with, but it would add like another two hours to my day. I know the hours are not as crazy as M&A etc but was wondering if anyone could give me an honest assessment of working hours. I don't want to start commuting then find myself feeling shitty.
Cheers
Depends on the bank and dealflow they are having - which depends on the macro. Dec 2018 teams were doing nothing as all activity was dead - not a single LevFin deal priced then. Can be as M&A, or almost a 9-5 job
Thank you for your response and info! Is DCM similar situation? I am thinking that should I get the chance I would take DCM, as I am not too concerned about exit-ops and would like to get the offer and build a long-term career...
DCM may be a bit more chill but you work earlier. ie 7am-10pm. As an intern I'd recommend living close by, as you'll probably go out with your team or fellow interns - go for student housing, you'll still be able to save a good chunk of you salary as you won't pay for dinners. As a FT it's a different story. Depending on where you actually live it may be doable - PM me the place and I can help :)
