Hours are Bad in Banking Whether Working or Not

Current An2 in a T1 city NYC/SF so ignore title.

It’s pet peeve of mine when people say “oh hours aren’t that bad in banking, there’s a lot of waiting around”. It’s so de-humanized. Are the 80 hours you stayed online only 60 because you were freely living life in the other 20? Everyone knows that there are very few careers out there where you actually work every single moment for even 40 hours. I’d be surprised if most corporate jobs work a genuine 25hr in a 40hr week. Not complaining about gross hours, we knew what they were from the onset, but why further reinforce an already poor standard of culture.
