Houston IB Recruiting?
I am a current sophomore from a target school (not in texas). Decent GPA (3.85+), 1 or 2 relevant experiences. I am thinking of only recruiting for houston ibd summer analyst as I am interested in oil and gas.
Do top EBs and BBs save a lot of spots for texas schools (ut austin, tcu, rice, smu)? Or do they have openings for other students as well. And how hard do you think it would be for me to recruit for there if I am hard recruiting for Houston O&G only and network well.
What are best banks in Houston for O&G (please rank EBs, BBs, MMs)?

Most banks will be sweaty but culture generally good (barring JEFF), would just recommend finding a connection with an analyst and reach out to a few for coffee chats for your best shot. Have a good story on why Houston and energy.
Vast majority of spots go to Texas schools (UT, Rice, SMU). You’re going to need a relevant / strong why energy answer.
Many houston banks steer away from hiring people from outside of Texas because most of those candidates are just applying to break into IB and move back to NY.
Does the spots go to Texas a and M to?
Yes, their Horizons program seems to be well respected when screening resumes
There are set spots reserved for specific schools and set spots reserved for inbounds from everyone else.

Yup but usually come from Calgary since it’s basically their Houston.
