How are exit opps for post-MBA IB that were career switchers?
A lot of the classic exit opps for IB include VC, PE, hedge funds, or corporate finance roles.
Do these same exit opps apply to people who used an MBA to career pivot into IB?
Or are they treated differently due to their older age and unrelated career background prior to IB?
TBH I think it’s more a function of market conditions during your Associate years. A lot of post MBAs were able to lateral to PE roles in the past few years form strong fundraising environment and growth of asset class. In a downmarket chances are much lower. Once you hit VP it’s damn near impossible
Why impossible at VP level? Too old at that point to make move to buyside?
Nothing to do with age, moreso that a VP is expected to quarterback a buy side process at that stage. Have seen VPs lateral down to sr associate though.
pe is still possible
Whoever started the trend / idea that post-analyst exits are impossible is a total fucking moron.
So you are saying I can exit to a MF past analyst years. My dream has come true I can now relax
