How did you finance the move to NYC?

I'll be starting my analyst stint in NYC this summer. I'm in a fortunate position where I have no debt and decent savings. In addition, my parents have offered to give me a few grand to start my life. Since they didn't pay for my education.

Know many people have student loans and will be penny-pinching for the first few years. How did you finance the move, or how much did your parents give you to start life?
