How Do Buy-side Headhunters View Work Experience Before Banking???

For bankers and PE analysts whose first job out of undergrad was not banking, how did headhunters view your prior experience? Did you feel it hindered or helped you?

I feel like the work experience should be valuable as long as you can sell it, but of course banking is a different animal than most industries ...anybody have any experience with this?
