For bankers and PE analysts whose first job out of undergrad was not banking, how did headhunters view your prior experience? Did you feel it hindered or helped you?

Yea. I chose VC out of UG but was thinking about switching. However, if my prior experience would be an issue, what's the point?
I feel like the work experience should be valuable as long as you can sell it, but of course banking is a different animal than most industries ...anybody have any experience with this?
