How do you know which BB conducted which M&A, IPO?

So, guys this is a pretty straight forward question. how do you find out about these M&A or IPOs going on, except for the ones that make it to the Wall STreet Journal--I'm guessing not all of them do? Also, do you guys know if there's a way to check which BB firm was responsible for that M&A or IPO undertaking? thnx guys.

Bloomberg. Type "LEAG". and it has everything you want to know.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

IPO underwriter information is really easy to find. Check Renaissance IPO's web site - they keep a constant running tally of what companies have recently filed an initial S-1 and which companies are set to launch or are on the road. They usually also list all the bookrunners and co-managers as well, but if they don't, you can just go onto EDGAR and find that all out on the first page of the latest S-1.

For M&A, if it's not in the news it is a bit trickier. If a merger agreement is posted to EDGAR, that usually lists the advising banks somewhere in there (scan for a fairness opinion to find the sell-side advisor). Otherwise, Bloomberg, SDC, and Thomson all track this information as well.
