How do you turn a interview into an informal chat

I think everyone knows that if you’re able to flip the script and turn the interview into more of a conversation/educational debate that you’re going to be on the good side of the interviewer.

Share your stories about how you’ve done this in the past and the results 👀

When you are going through your background make sure to include hobbies/interests, and when the person giving you the interview shares a bit about themselves try to find similarities and common ground to shoot the shit over. Talking about your hobbies and interests makes the conversation both more unique for the interviewer and more conversational if you talk about popular hobbies that most people enjoy (it is nice to have unique hobbies, but for the sake of sparking conversations try to share some more common ones as well.)

Just in general, try to relax and think of the other person just as another random person you are meeting and not someone who is deciding if you get hired or not. If you are able to relax and have genuine interest in sharing your background/fit and building a connection with the interviewer, it will feel much more like a conversation. If you are nervous and tight, you will most likely sound like a robot in your responses and it will be a very cookie cutter, choppy interview.

Hope this helped, good luck!
