How does one explain?
Hey monkeys out there,
this may seem like a stupid question, but I was just thinking today about cold-emailing alums and other professionals. I have pieced together quite a few e-mail addresses with the help of LinkedIn and WSO and am contemplating shooting the whole lot perhaps tomorrow.
Suppose I do get lucky with a few and they agree to sit down and have a chat, what happens when they ask of how I obtained their e-mail addresses? Somehow when I picture saying that I pieced them together from various sources, it seems a little creep-prone.
Can anyone advise on this?
Tell them you found them through LinkedIn or your schools alumni database
I doubt they will ask- anyone who responds is probably not going to worry about that. If they really do ask then say alumni database or Linkedin (as was mentioned above)
Just make a funny laughable comment, like "alot of googling". It's not as serious as you think.
Thanks guys, that put things at ease! I certainly hope not too much of a ruckus will be made over such a matter haha.
