how effective are higher up MO/BO office

I've found alumni from school who work at BB, but are MO/BO, I was wondering how effective are they or can be to get me a interview for FO if they pass on my resume? Should I even try to contact them or should I just I start cold-emailing non-alumni who are FO and hope they respond? My other question is i found an alumni at elite boutique who is the controller of the entire company. Can that person be affective in helping me out?

alums in mo/bo will have zero pull in helping you land a fo interview.

the controller should be able to help or at least direct you appropriately, as the mm is likely a smaller place. at the very least, he should be able to tell you who to send your resume to in the fo groups

IlliniProgrammerHowever, your idioms look affected when you don't spell the word effective.

ask them if they know anyone in the banking division. they most certainly can refer you, giving you an opportunity to network, which can improve your chances of getting an interview.

Yea it has worked for me before. I met an alum who was a VP in technology of all places. He worked with someone else in tech whose husband was a banker so he put me in touch with him. You never know and it doesn't hurt.

If these are your only contacts, by all means try to leverage as much as you can with who you know. However, time is best spent reaching out to the right contacts than to use a shotgun approach and reach out to too many who won't be able to help as much.
