How frequently do you hang out with your fellow analysts?

The junior bankers in my group are incredibly incohesive. The associates act like VPs and openly act superior to the analysts, and we never hang out with them. The analysts in my group all have their own groups of friends, and we never hang out with each other except during company events and pre-planned analyst "let's force ourselves to hang out with each other" events. I'm close with two of the other analysts and hang out with them (separately) frequently, and there is also a clique of three analysts who hangs out with each other (there are 8-12 analysts in my group).

Is this common? I was under the impression that analysts hang out with each other more frequently.

Are you at a boutique? Maybe a regional location? Couple friends in Charlotte and LA have had the same experience. I guess it just depends on the group
