How important is work experience?
I have an opportunity to intern at a small NYC boutique over the summer after sophomore year (debt financing). My question is how important is prior work experience when applying for BB/MM positions for junior year?
It's the most important part of your resume. You're viewed even more favorably if you have prior IB experience, for which you have an opportunity. Go for it.
It is a lot more valuable than no work experience. If you had two resumes that were identically with the exception that one had a summer job/internship during college, which one would you hire?

Hi guys,
I am an incoming FT analyst at a BB in London.
I was wondering: when recruiting for PE, do the internships you did before your IBD stint matter? Or do PE firms just look at your actual analyst performance, the deals you worked on, etc?
Looked for this in the forum, but couldn't find an answer. I am currently consider doing an additional internship before starting full-time, but I am questioning the usefulness of doing so.

It's not the most important thing but it certainly can matter. For example, if you're trying to go from IB to VC, it certainly can't hurt to have already done a VC internship in college - it gives you some extra credibility and also some contacts in the industry even if that specific firm isn't hiring.
