how much sway to associates/analysts have at MMs?
How much sway to they have in hiring analysts?
I have an upcoming lateral interview and I have to first pass the interview w. the associatres/analysts, and then interview w. MD's.
At the end of the day it's probably the MD's decison, but wouldnt you think the associates/analysts have more sway since they are who you would be working with?
The MD decides IF any hiring at all will take place, aka determines the need.
Also, will give an idea of what's acceptable, aka we need a lot of experience, we can take someone who's fairly green, etc.
After that, the Associates and Analysts make the decision on who. Obviously, if there is complete disagreement, then the MD wins out, but since that rarely, if ever, happens, and the MD is presented with 3 or 4 more or less equivalent options, the MD will defer to the people that will end up working with them.
associate/analyst do have a say...if they said they hated you, the MD will probably not hire you unless the MD knows you personally and know for sure that you didn't just get lucky and fake the whole interview
