How much/what type of work should an associate be delegating to the analyst?
Interested to hear various thoughts on this. Obviously when a post mba associate initially starts out, they will more or less be a grunt (performing all the duties expected of an analyst) as they learn the craft.
But after the associate has been at the firm for at least a year/more or less understands the intricacies of the role, how much/what type of work should the associate be delegating to the analyst? With your best associates, what does this dynamic tend to look like?
For reference I'll be starting as an associate soon, appreciate any input!
During the day, pretty much everything other than text heavy pages.
if it’s getting late or getting near a deadline, whatever you have to to get the work done on time and make sure you’re both able to go to bed at a reasonable hour
If you can get away with it, it’s usually 10x less painful if you set up the model yourself and then hand it over to the analyst to clean up the backup / update going forward vs having to explain and answer endless questions, but makes it harder for analyst to learn so you need to strike a balance.
