How necessary is drinking and partying to network for IB jobs?
I'm going to an Ivy target school this fall and rn I'm interested in IB. People keep telling me that I need to be prepared to go out and drink/party with the finance bros and play games like beer pong and stuff to network with the right people. I'm really not into drinking and its not something I'm interested in getting into but I know it can be really hard to avoid - esp in college. I'm planning on studying a combination of economics and statistics with STEM classes thrown in for fun (yes really lol) while walking onto a Varsity team (swimming/rowing/hockey stuff with a big time commitment) and I really never planned on going out more than once every other week - if that. I was already planning on trying clubs and I've been connecting and talking with people on LinkedIn so how big of a deal is not partying as much?
Its not that I don't enjoy a good time - but I'd like to avoid drinking/drugs/smoking/etc - I find that I can have fun without them.
Thanks!
Why did you group hockey in with swimming and rowing lol
Wanted to add a third thing and the school I'm at doesn't have water polo
