How rock solid are certain choices...

1) Let's say I'm a 2nd-year analyst at a BB, and deciding between a few exit opps. If I decide to go to PE or HF, how easy is it to go back to IB if I absolutely hate it??

2) Let's say I'm a newly promoted A2A associate at a BB, and I'm like "fuck, I should've done PE." How hard is it to switch to PE/HF etc after the recruiting for analysts is over?
