How to find boutique banks?

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a compilation of smaller boutique banks throughout the country? Coming from a non-target in a city that isn't a financial hub is going to make it much more difficult to get SA position at a BB. I want to cold call various firms and try to get an internship before junior year. Are there any lists or spreadsheets of the sort? Thanks!

There is this great thing called google. You type things into what people call a "search bar" and then hit enter. This will then search the web for a variety of things. I am sure you could use it to find a group of banks in your area or even in any city you want. I am not sure though, because I have only used this technology a handful of times.

Wow, I appreciate the sarcasm. Was just wondering if there was anything easier than going page by page through google results..

I believe there are some threads on WSO for certain cities. However, when googling, I would search Investment Bank and then write the city in quotes. This will make sure google returns the word "Investment Bank" only when its associated with the city in quotes. For non-major financial hubs this will probably find the boutiques. For example: Investment Bank "Charlotte" will be your search. Hope this helps

Most efficient way - search by city on WSO's search bar. Go through all the content you can find. You'll get a ton of info about the banks as well as reviews of their work/culture/dealflow.

Pair this with the WSO Company Database and a LinkedIn Premium subscription, and you will have a solid start.

@wallstreetmonkey2017" also gave a good way to go ahead with Google searches.

I will be in your shoes a year from now and these are a few external sources I plan to use. You can compile them, put it all in a spreadsheet and start looking into things:

I. Vault 50 Guide: These are the firms on top of the prestige pyramid. If you are targeting boutiques, you can start from the bottom.

II. Axial.net: Whenever I type boutique investment bank in Google, this is always in the top five results. I can't vet the accuracy of their data, so tread carefully.

III. CFI Boutique Investment Banks List: Here is a list of the reputed ones, according to CFI. * Allegiance Capital Corporation * Arma Partners * Berkery, Noyes & Co. * BG Capital * C.W. Downer * Cain Brothers * Cantor Fitzgerald * Capstone Partners * Corporate Finance Associates * CSG Partners * Europa Partners * Fennebresque & Co * Financo * Foros * Gleacher & Company * Guggenheim Partners * High Rock Partners * Imperial Capital * Keefe, Bruyette, & Woods * Ladenburg Thalmann * Lancaster Pollard * Lincoln International * Marathon Capital * Marlin & Associates * McColl Partners * Miller Buckfire & Co. * Montgomery & Co. * Morgan Keegan & Co. * Needham & Co. * Panmure Gordon * PCE Investment Bankers, Inc. * Roth Capital Partners * Sagent Advisors * Sonenshine Partners * Stephens, Inc. * Stifel Financial * Sucsy, Fischer & Company * WR Hambrecht & Co. * Ziegler

IV. Google 'SIFMA Member Directory': Go to the SIFMA (Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association) website. Majority of these firms are into securitization services and brokerage, but you will still be able to find a few players here and there who offer the entire gamut of IB services.

V. Go to https : // nibanet.org / members (without the spaces) - This is a really old website and I don't think they have been maintaining the database. I wouldn't be surprised if half of these firms are dead. But - worth a look.

If you do use any of these sources and find something useful, do PM me. Cheers.
