How to find housing in nyc for SA 26?

Need to find housing this summer, ideally midtown east ish, does anyone have any advice of where to look? Have checked out found study but heard horrible things. Will probably try FB marketplace, but are there any groups that I should particularly check out?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips for finding housing in NYC for your summer analyst stint:

  1. Subletting Options: Subletting is a popular choice among summer analysts. Check platforms like Facebook Marketplace and specific groups for NYC sublets. You can also explore sublease opportunities shared by other interns or professionals on forums like Wall Street Oasis. For example, someone in a previous thread offered a sublet for $1850/month for a summer spot.

  2. Student Dorms: While NYU dorms are often mentioned, they may not always be ideal or available. Alternatives like The New School dorms or other student housing options could be worth exploring. Keep in mind that some dorms may require a dining plan, which could add to the cost.

  3. Airbnb: Renting an Airbnb with a few roommates can be a cost-effective and flexible option. Midtown East is a convenient location, so look for listings in that area.

  4. Broker-Free Rentals: Avoid paying broker fees by directly contacting buildings that lease luxury rentals. Many buildings with amenities and doormen handle leasing in-house.

  5. Timing and Flexibility: If possible, aim for a lease start date that aligns with your move-in plans to avoid paying for unused time. Leases often start at the beginning, middle, or end of the month.

  6. Neighborhoods: Midtown East is a solid choice for proximity to work. Other quieter areas like FiDi (Financial District) might also be worth considering if you’re open to a slightly longer commute.

  7. Online Resources: Websites like Luxury Living Suites or other short-term rental platforms can provide furnished options for the summer.

If you’re looking for specific Facebook groups, try searching for “NYC Sublets and Apartments” or “NYC Housing for Interns.” These groups often have active listings and are tailored to short-term renters like yourself.
