How to follow up after in-person connection?

I met a senior banker at a workshop the other day and we had a great conversation. It was short, but sweet. Gave a little of my background and he seemed enthusiastic about it. Mentioned I was a recent graduate with private equity, and asset management internships and I want to work in IB. He gave me his email and said to email him. My gut is telling me to now email him and ask if he would be open to grabbing a quick coffee and discussing more, since we’ve already broken the ice and done what you would typically do over the phone or when connecting in-person for the first time. I know this is a complete green horn ask but I’m still getting comfortable being forward with the senior bankers. Looking for some experienced folks to chime in here. What do you seniors prefer? Am I overthinking?
