How to get technically good in non-technical group?

Hi Monkeys,

I am an A2 within IBD coverage group. I managed to get some deal experience within my first year, however, by the nature of it my team is not very technical. Usually, when we work on a deal the technical aspects of the job like valuation materials, models are performed by the sector coverage group, while we run process/admin and produce pages.

How can I try to improve my technical abilities? I will be becoming  Analyst 3 this summer and wouldn't like to lag behind my sector counterparts. For now, I have been practising modeling on my own through various PE recruitment courses, tried to get as much technical expsoure as possible on the job, and I am aiming to switch teams to a sector coverage.

Any advice especially from someone, who has been in similar situation would be welcomed.
