How to handle deal related questions from a PE Associate?

Hi, what would the protocol be when discussing an ongoing deal in a casual setting (lunch with a PE Associate)? I met with him to learn some of his thoughts and insights on a couple their investments, which is in a niche industry we focus on, and he also focuses heavily on the industry. He asked about more details of the deal I am working on. There are very few companies in the industry, so he is probably smart enough to figure it out, if I divulge any details. What would you do in this situation?

It is a firm I'd like to go work at in 1-2 years, and my experience relates directly to their focus. Should I just give some vague details, and just say, "I can't divulge the name, but I am sure you have narrowed it down."?

The company we are working with is slightly too small for their fund (they are not a target buyer), so I know they would not consider buying it at this stage.
