How to land an interview at BB in M&A for FT position?

A lot of people talk here about how competitive it is to get a full time graduate job at BB given the large percentage of conversion from summer internship to FT. However, even before you get to the stage of getting hired, I was wondering how hard is it to land an interview at BB.

Goldman Sachs for example has introduced a new round of interviews in the UK where they use HireVue so your interview is completed online, similar to what BlackRock has been doing for a while now. If you're from a target university with some work experience behind your back, are you guaranteed an interview or it still depends on networking and luck?

I do realise that the majority here are from the US but it would be greatly appreciated if someone from UK could give some input as well.
