How to make best of Summer Analyst Position in Operational Risk
I am a summer analyst at a leading IB. I am in the risk management department working for Operational Risk. I wanted some help knowing how to make the best of my summer. I know nothing about operational risk. I am going into my senior year and havent learned much in school. I want to be in the IB side of the company but from this yrs SA class it only seems they take kids from IVY's or Top 5 B schools. How do you recommend learning the OP risk side while also trying to learn about IB and trying to move into that division. OP Risk is fairly new at my firm less than 10 yrs and it seems to be a mixture of both quantitative and qualitative work. I am not a quant. I am not good number cruncher or using intense formulas. Also where can I learn the basics of IB, I am always hearing make models dcf and all these terms that I want to learn.
