How to Quit your IB

When you left your IB job, did you give them a 2 weeks notice? I’ve seen 6 or so analysts leave my group and 1 of them actually worked for 2 weeks after telling the group he was leaving. The rest gave them the 2 weeks notice and were promptly told to leave.

How does this usually work? I’m on a deal thats heating up and would really hate it if they made me stay for another week or 2, even though it would probably make a ton of sense for me to do it

Never happened to me, but seen it happen a bunch of times in groups I've worked in with for both IB and AM. Most people took all of their vacation days at the end and just left after their announcement of departure, but others would take all of their vacation days around the busiest period of their time remaining, then work a few days, and then leave. Usually this was the result of conflict minimization due to the company I currently work for being very large.

I gave them 5 weeks notice and was made redundant on all my deals by the end of week one. Only work I did during that period was finish a pitch I was already on and they added another analyst onto it too. I was working till 2 am and on weekends for 2.5/5 weeks then then back half I didn’t even log on some days and stopped getting included on calls and emails.
