How Useful/Expensive is MLT?
I have been considering applying to the program and was wondering how useful any of you guys think it is for someone seeking MM or BB jobs? I know the MBA program is VERY good at helping people get in Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, etc. My main concern is the mandatory meetings you have to go to. From what I've read you have to go to 3 of them and they usually are a few days each. Are they in DC, NY, LA, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta or SF? Because I know as a non-profit that they aren't going to reimburse attendees.
From what I heard ( from friends of friends and other "weak tie connections") is that it's almost like a cheat code for getting into a top MBA program. However, MLT seems to suffer from a self-selection bias in my opinion: when I've talked to these people and (looked at their profiles and other program participants on linkedin) they really take kids who would have likely gotten into a top program anyway. Example: Johnny might not have gotten into HBS had he not had MLT's help to frame his story to, but likely would have gotten into Kellogg or Columbia.
That said, everyone who had an MBA and went through it raved about it and I believe you even get face time with an admissions contact from each of the schools MLT has a relationship with. I also have a friend who is actually not going through the program and she's upset that she won't be going through it because of all the advantages. The reason why is because you have to get into MLT a year before you want to apply to B-school, so the time commitment is a another downside. Obviously the timing makes sense though because they also help you frame your story, help you meet other MLT participants and career prep you for interviews as well. The other downside is the cost (of course), but again from what I'm hearing the costs seem to outweigh the benefits.
Hope that helps. For the record, if I had the cash and didn't mind waiting a year I'd do it.
Yeah I definitely wouldn't mind getting in but depending on where the seminars are makes a big difference for me at the moment. It'd probably set me back 1,000 bucks each trip if it's not in the nearest metro city near me. Definitely will apply to it when the time comes for B-school applications.
In my experience at the undergrad level it seems that they do have a lot more non-targets so that is a plus.
just read their FAQs and it appears they do reimburse people. Does anyone know the process/turnaround time it takes. Really hope I can get in this now.

If you are accepted to this program. How good is MBA placement? Can anyone talk more about their experience? Thanks
you get what you put into it
I would imagine it’s similar to SEO’s AIFP. Looking that up might help you find resources. Admittedly, I think AIFP has a better book of partner firms but I haven’t looked in a while.
