how's asia doing?

At a BB and have talked to a lot of friends at other firms. Seems like a lot of senior bankers are voluntarily jumping ship (see: NOT being axed or relocated) to work in the Asian markets. Either they're optimistic about the markets there or they're pissin their pants over the mess in the States (or, most likely, both). NY/London still the place to be or should SAs/prospective first years seriously consider starting in HK? Any people in HK wanna comment on deal flow over on the other side?

My friends at a BB in Singapore (equity research) and he just told me the other day he heard theyre not increasing their headcount this upcoming year. But I have another friend at a BB in HK in S&T and she said a couple months ago they were actively rectuiting more FT at that time--- Im not sure about the current status tho as much has changed since March. But i would really be interested in hearing more peoples opinions...
