In the age of facebook / LinkedIn / whatever, everyone already knows what all their friends do anyways. So, it really shouldn't come as a surprise.

At my 5-year, we had a number of people who were successful and a number of people who were bums. No one really cared where you worked. There was far more emphasis on what people LOOKED like -- aka, who got fat and who got hot. Also -- who got married was an interesting topic of conversation as well.

What kind of question is this? This is like asking someone if they are looking forward to marriage...Why would you care to see the approval of people that you went to school with over ten years ago...was it because they were the popular kids and you know what to show them how well you have done for yourself? Who really cares? Judging by your handle, I am going to go out on a limb here and say you went to Michigan State. I guess if you cannot get into Michigan you can always go to state...

Wow goalie, helpful comment...

Yes, I'm looking forward to mine, if only to see people I've lost touch with and find out who's successful, who's on drugs and who's married. Plus everyone gets shitfaced at reunions.

I just had my five-year, and it was great. When I graduated college I moved to the South, far away from pretty much everyone I knew. This meant I kept in touch with only my best friends and even so, rarely saw them. The reunion was a great chance to see the friends I'd kept in touch with, get caught up with others (though facebook has largely eliminated the "surprise" element), and in some cases connect with people I hadn't been friendly with before.

I'm moving back to my home city this summer after my two years are up, and I already have two soccer teams that want me to join as well as friends to hang out with, all thanks to reconnecting with people at my reunion.

Also, this may sound absurd, but reunions are a great way to build your professional network. I grew up in a great area and went to a prestigious high school, so some of my peers ended up at banks / PE firms. It may seem selfish, but these people may come in handy later in life!
