HSBC Energy Banking
Does anyone know anything about their energy banking team? Good deal flow, growing, decent bonuses, exit ops?
Anything you know would be appreciated.

is this part of corporate banking or global? haven't heard of energy banking, what responsibilites are you expected of?
My understanding is that it is a traditional investment banking team - I hear they're building out a team in Houston now. Just curious if anyone out there has any experience with HSBC I-Banking? I'm just assuming it would be energy focused since the office they are building out is in Houston.
interested
It will have to be a new team. I work on energy buyside and never heard about them in Energy before
HSBC IBD (at least in the US, can't speak for internationally) sucks. Like really, really bad.
Appreciate the info - could you elaborate a little? Do they seriously have zero good teams? Do you know if they're making a push to grow/hire?
Thanks
After a bit of digging - it seems that HSBC is making a push to grow their i-banking platform.
Apparently they've been growing like gangbusters over in Asia (HK based), and I'm extrapolating that they are trying to make a push to grow in some of the more mature markets.
Any one on this site work at HSBC and care to chirp in?
I've never seen HSBC on an energy deal.
Recently spoke with several members of their M&A team in the US. I came away very unimpressed with their people and the firm in general. Seemed like they didn't have any deal flow, but are in hiring mode in their M&A, ECM, Sponsors groups
