Hypothetical Promotion Question

I know this is kind of a crazy thought, but could one hypothetically leverage their PE offer to be promoted to associate after 2 years in a BB bank? If for example the PE offer was not one that they truly wanted to take but was their only other option...?

Yes - that is a crazy thought. Isn't getting promoted to associate kind of default at BBs? The only thing is that usually people have to wait three years vs. two - but still that seems like a move with asymmetric risk/reward (you're getting a lesser position and taking substantial reputation risk to do it, which is unnecessary given the default course).
