I applied for banks saying I was interested in one industry and was rejected due to it being competitive and no alumni presence

At this point, I think I might switch off to a less competitive industry focus since I bid myself into a few of those firms. Would they look at this as a negative? Should I still just stick to my original industry even though I didn't get selected to proceed with that industry focus?
