I know it varies, but as an incoming FT analyst when should I expect to model?

Going into industrials coverage at a BB. I haven't had a chance to ask anyone on my incoming team yet, but I was wondering generally how many months/weeks into the job are first year analysts expected to model and be really good at it? I have read some say analysts won't even touch a model for the first year to 6 months but others had different answers. Thank you guys. I realize it varies hard by bank/group.
