IB as an international student?

Hi everyone,

I’m a student from Mexico (born in the US) and wondering how difficult it is for me to break into investment banking in the US or UK. I’m studying at a target school here in Mexico (ITAM/TEC) and I’m aiming for a 2026 IB summer internship, ideally in the US.

My alumni network for IB is pretty limited, so I’m looking for advice on how to network effectively outside of that, and what are the best things for me to do to improve my chances outside networking. What’s worked for you if you have been in similar situations?

Also, what are the best firms (BBs, EBs, strong MMs, etc.) that would be more open to someone like me for a junior year offer?

Any advice would be appreciated — thanks!
