IB, Consulting or PE - Graduate

Hi all,

I am currently in the graduate application process of IB groups in London, but haven't been offered any interviews yet (only received negative or no responses) I have applied to pretty much every good shop in the City (GS, JPM, EVR, LZR, Roth, PWP, DB, Citi, BAML, UBS, CW, Jefferies, Qatalyst, etc.) but haven't applied to less prestigious shops like DC advisory, RBS, BNP, etc.

I am beginning to freak out about my job opps as I imagine that assessment centers are already taking place and therefore considering the following options: - Apply to noname M&A/Tech shops in London - Apply to private equity shops in Paris - Apply to VC shops - Apply to strategy consulting firms in London (McK, Bain, BCG, LEK, OW, Roland Berger, OC&C)

For information, I am French, graduated with a Master in Management from a semi-target French business school (top 5-6 school) and also hold a dregree in Finance from the London School of Economics. I have almost 2 years of internship experience in CorpDev, MM M&A and MM technology growth equity.

My long-term goal is to work in technology growth equity in London. I don't want to work in Paris long-term. As I graduated a year ago (was interning in Growth this year), I have only applied to graduate programmes in IB for next year but this has been unsuccessful as of yet. I am afraid that non-branded M&A will give me no exit opps (and I don't particularly enjoy working 80h-90h/week for nothing), and that strategy consulting won't train me to financial modelling. What would you apply to if you were in my shoes ?

Thanks fellow monkeys

I think it’s important to process why you didn’t get called to interview at any of this places. What was the feedback you were given?

Consulting is a very different recruiting process to IB but you need to decide if you’re interested in it?

Personally I would opt for applying to the less prestigious places or apply to prestigious places for SA in IB
