IB email response
About a week ago I got an email from a professor that said an alumni who now works at a MM bank in Philadelphia was looking for summer interns. I emailed the alumni the usual email basically saying "thank you for the opportunity etc." and attached my cover and resume.
A week later (today) he responds, "Malgu, thanks for your interest. I forwarded your info along and someone should be in touch."
My question is what is the best way to respond to this to continue building a connection and not beat a dead horse on thanking him?
Thanks much
By having natural social skills and not asking the internet to hold your hand through every email interaction you have.
What would you do if you had a job and was in an email chain? Ask WSO?
Ask if there's anything else you can do to prepare for the internship and then leave them alone for a while.
Ask for a meeting
Be cool, say "thanks again" and ask if he has a few minutes to speak on the phone some time this week to answer some q's about the firm and what not. Key to this is not asking stupid questions though.
I would say thanks again and then ask to speak on the phone to learn more about his experiences in banking and how he got there...almost like an informational interview. That way you can hopefully find some common ground and develop a possible mentor relationship.
