IB Internship Networking: LinkedIn or Email?
hello everyone
Regarding cold emails, which would be be better/result in a response: LinkedIn message or straight up email?
If the latter, how did y'all go about finding their email addresses?

I never LinkedIn messaged. Only emailed. But I know people who have done both.
Most banks follow a set formula: [email protected]

It should have most of the banks you are interested in.
Straight up emails for sure. Not everyone gets notifications from linkedin and likely don't check them as often as you do. So geuss emails rather than linkedin message.
I got way better reply rates from email, far and away. Also, LinkedIn only gives you a certain amount of messages. Websites like ZoomInfo will let you search someone and get their company email. See if any of them give you a free trial.
I got my internship via Linkedin message. I sent a message to a MD at a boutique, then he gave me an email address to which I could send my resume and cover letter. Linkedin messages could be useful at small firms, but I think cold emailing would be more effective at bigger banks.
at big / well known firms I would stick with email
